October 17-18, 2009
Itinerary of the weekend planned is below:
Saturday, October 17
9:00 – Bright and early families will meet at the Los Angeles Union Amtrak Station to board the train.10:15 – Train Departs. We eat lunch aboard the train. You can bring a sack lunch or purchase food from the snack bar.
12:48 – Train arrives in Santa Barbara. As a group, we will walk to the Best Western hotel, which is approximately 0.5 miles. Here, we will drop off our baggage and head out for a fun-filled day of activities.
2:30 – As a group, we will walk to Wheel Fun Rentals where we will pick up our surrey bicycles and explore Santa Barbara.
4:30 – After an afternoon of cycling, we will need to shower before dinner, so head back to hotel to get ready.
6:30 – Time for Dinner at Rusty’s Pizza! Rusty’s is located across the street from the ocean where we will be able to watch the sunset as we eat our meal of salad, pasta, and of course pizza.
Sunday, October 18
8:00-11:00 – Beach Play! During this time, you may kayak off the coast or take a walk down the beach to the Ty Warner Sea Center to explore a myriad of marine life.
11:00-12:00 – Enjoy lunch on your own with friends and family.
12:00-12:30 – Meet at the Amtrak station with luggage. We will be meeting back here before we leave.
12:30 – Train departs for the Zoo
12:30-3:00 – Lions, Tigers, and Bears! O My! Welcome to the Santa Barbara Zoo! Walk around this amazing zoo and explore many different animals. Eat lunch on a grassy knoll or in the cafeteria with different birds.
3:00 – Train departs from the zoo to go back to the Amtrak station in Santa Barbara
3:30 – Time to go home. Board the train for Los Angeles.
